Joyful is a word that is often used to decribe our music and the way people feel when they come to a show. Judging from what we see from the stage there is little doubt-and we can’t thank you enough for letting us share our music and message with you. If you haven’t figured it out yet we’re having a blast just watching YOU!
April brought many showers of joy starting out west in the great state of California. From San Fran to Pleasanton to Modesto all the way down to Anaheim; we were received with warm hearts ready to take part in a little “Heavenly Partiness” for sure. All of our hosts on this trip really did their homework and did a great job promoting the shows. One final thing about our California trip is that we were followed by a film crew from “French TV 2″. It’s the 2nd largest TV network in France (kinda like bbc 1 and 2). They were doing a documentary on Ceili Rain to address the rising popularity of more contemporary/modern styles of music in the Catholic music market. What an opportunity for us!!!! The full half hour show will be broadcast on Aug 15th to a market of 200 million households. (Yep you read it right…200 million!!!) Say some prayers for some serious European exposure and interest. Road trip to Europe! Who’s on board this Ceil Train?
Energized by our western swing, the entire band travelled to Nashville (the birthplace of Ceili Rain) to record our 5th studio album. We piled all of our bodies and gear into the Seventeen Grand studio on “Music Row” for four and a half days of intense and creative Ceili fun. With this record we are going back to a more spirited and “live” vibe. Which basically means all seven of us playing together on every take and trying to capture that energy of the moment. We tracked 17 songs!! It’s amazing to hear these songs come to life and see where they are headed. That’s the beauty of recording live. We’re not sure how many tunes will make it on the record, but the keepers always rise to the top on their own. We had many friends and former members drop by to say hi. Listen close and you may even hear some previous CEILI Kidz sprinkled in here and there as well. Everyone left the studio feeling energized by what had taken place. We look forward to hearing it all mixed and mastered-but most of all bringing to all of YOU. So be patient it’s on it’s way. We’re looking for a fall release most likely. Maybe in our next blog we’ll drop some hints about album titles or song themes…you never know.
