Bob Halligan speaking about the album:
Last couple years have been heaven for me, I have my own recording studio, and I can record as I write! No more demos! God is Good, All the Time! This means that lots of the vocal stuff on The Twelve CD is what popped outta me in the writing moments, and could later be fixed/edited/added to. Same for the instruments, so it’s been tons of fun for certain. Brought the other Twelvers in at different points to do their bits, all
onesies (one-at-a-time.) Is weird for those of us who are used to the Mega-events and live performance as the mode of expression.
Most important Twelver on the CD is actually not ON the CD- the one & only Mick Walker. Mick made it all make sense, picked up after me and made sure we sounded professional, my engineering skills being basic at best. Live, Mick plays bass or guitar or sings while he does the sound, but in the studio he did mix and mastering, the crucial final phase where you make sure all the songs are the same volume and all sound spanking good! I’m so pleased with the great job Mick did, he’s a FAB dude, a great hang and has a great ear and terrific taste, which is what makes him an ace in the studio and elsewhere. also really understands the gear and what makes it tick, and if we get a new piece of gear he learns it backwards & forwards so that we get the maximum result.
